Mass Media Content for Wireless Communications
Monday April 5, 2002
9:00AM to 5:30 PM
142 Uris Hall
Columbia University, New York

Agenda

Mobile communications are moving beyond individualized voice to mass media content -- text, voice, sound, images, even video. This will create new types of content and allow users to interact in new ways.

CITI's upcoming conference, the latest in a series on the subject of third-generation wireless, will explore entertainment and other forms of content delivered via mobile devices, and the emerging business and content opportunities. It will identify likely types of content such as news, entertainment, peer-to-peer, and location-specific information. It will evaluate the economics, business models, and payment mechanisms necessary to support these media. And it will cover policy dimensions such as copyright, competitive entry, and access by content providers.

The conference is based on commissioned research papers, followed by panel discussions. (Additional panelists are likely to join.)

This project is a trans-Atlantic collaboration between CITI and the European Institute for the Media.
