William Lehr
is Assistant Professor at Columbia Business School. His current research
examines effects of rapid technological change on strategic behavior,
compatibility standardization and productivity. His work also addresses
microeconomics of industrial organization, regulation and competitive
strategy with special attention to the computer, telecommunications and
media industries. Lehr holds undergraduate and masters degrees in chemical
engineering from the University of Pennsylvania, and an MBA from the Wharton
School of Business. He received his PhD in economics from Stanford. Major
publications and papers include "Quality and Reliability of Telecommunications
Infrastructure" (forthcoming), "Standardization: Understanding the Process";
"Journal of the American Society of Information Science", "Voluntary Standard
Setting, Institutions and the Allocation of Technical Capabilities", "ISDN
