Thomas W. Hazlett
is an Associate Professor of Agricultural Economics at UC Davis and teaches
economics and public policy. He previously served as Chief Economist at
the FCC, and was a Visiting Fellow at the Institute in 1990-91. Hazlett
has conducted extensive research in the area of government regulation
and legal institutions, specializing in public policy of broadcasting
and cable television. His articles have appeared in numerous journals
in the fields of economics, law, regulation, public policy, broadcasting,
and electronic media. He is also widely published in a number of general
interest periodicals. Hazlett has delivered expert testimony on cable
television regulation before governmental bodies and several federal courts,
and was awarded the 1990 Wriston/Citicorp Fellowship by the Manhattan
Institute for Policy Research.
