Martin C.J.
Elton was Director of the Institute and Visiting Professor at Columbia
Business School between July 1987 and January 1990. He has returned to
NYU as Professor of Communications in the Tisch School of the Arts where
he has taught since 1979, and remains affiliated with the Institute. His
research has concentrated primarily on evaluation, planning and policy
development for emerging telecommunications and information services.
He serves on the editorial board of Telecommunications Policy and was
a member of the National Research Council's Subcommittee on Space Communications
Research and Development. He has acted as principal investigator of studies
sponsored by the National Science Foundation, AT&T, the Corporation for
Public Broadcasting and many other agencies and corporations in the USA,
Canada, and Europe. He has published widely in the field. His books include
the edited volumes Integrated Broadband Networks: The Public Policy Issues
and Evaluating and Planning New Telecommunications Services.
